Karukaya was born on April 2nd 1983 in Kansai. She started to perform in clubs in Osaka when she was in high school. She flew to Jamaica after she graduated from high school and spent half a
year. The next year, she came back to Japan and released a debut album KARUKAYAMAKOTO. Nowadays, she goes back and fore between Japan and Jamaica and expresses reality of life in both
J-islands.
